Data controller

The data controller is the developer of the Stellidar app and operator of the stellidar.com website, reachable at info@stellidar.com. You can use this address for any question about this policy or to exercise your rights.

The Stellidar app

The app works without accounts and without profiling: GPS position, tracks, routes, waypoints and settings are processed and stored on your device only. Your position is not sent to our servers, in the foreground or in the background: the location permission (including background location, where granted) is used solely for navigation and for the safety alarms — such as the anchor watch — which run on the device.

When you download charts or weather, or enable internet AIS, the app sends the servers only the technical request needed to serve you: the IP address (inherent in any internet communication) and the geographic area requested (the chart cell, the weather area, the AIS bounding box). These requests are processed to deliver the service; they are not used to build profiles and are not linked to an identity — the app has no accounts. Legal basis: performance of the service you requested and legitimate interest in the security of the infrastructure.

Providers involved: chart and weather delivery runs on Cloudflare, Inc. infrastructure; internet AIS data comes from the third-party service aisstream.io, which receives the requested area. The app contains no advertising and no analytics.

Any in-app purchases are handled entirely by the stores (Google Play / App Store): we do not receive or store payment data.

The stellidar.com website

Connection data. To deliver the website, the hosting provider (Cloudflare, Inc.) automatically processes certain technical data — such as IP address, browser type and the date and time of the request — which are necessary to transmit the pages and to protect the service from attacks and abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest in delivering and securing the service.

Language cookie. The site uses a single technical cookie ("lang") that remembers the language you choose with the selector. Being strictly necessary to provide a feature you requested, it does not require consent. The site uses no profiling or advertising cookies.

Aggregate statistics. The site may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which produces visit statistics in aggregate, anonymous form, without cookies and without identifying individual visitors.

Recipients and transfers

Technical data is processed by Cloudflare, Inc. as infrastructure provider; for internet AIS, the requested area is processed by the third-party service aisstream.io. Data is not sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes. These providers may process data on servers outside the European Union, under adequate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses).

Retention

Technical data is kept only for the time strictly necessary for security and statistical purposes, according to the hosting provider's practices.

Your rights

You may exercise the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection by writing to info@stellidar.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, www.garanteprivacy.it).

Minors

The app and the site are not directed to children under the age of 14.

Changes

This policy may be updated over time. Any changes will be published on this page with the update date above.
